Job Description
The Staff Nurse Inpatient role reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine and adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program. It follows all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
As a registered nurse, you will provide nursing care to acutely ill patients, using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. You will collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
Shift: Afternoon second shift (1 pm – 11:30 pm), four days a week.
Compensation: $5,000 sign‑on bonus paid in three installments (30 days, 6 months, 1 year). Internal and rehire candidates less than one year of service are not eligible for the sign‑on bonus.
Responsibilities- Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements individualized care plans, coordinates care delivery, and evaluates progress toward outcomes.
- Directs care and determines appropriate utilization of personnel involved in direct patient care.
- Collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff, documenting plans and communications.
- Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
- Evaluates and documents patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record; individualizes the plan of care based on findings.
- Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years.
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills; ability to collaborate with others.
- Experience in a specific clinical area.
- Prior experience in Emergency Room or Pediatric Emergency Room.
- Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) certification.
- Emergency Communications Registered Nurse certification.
- Certified Pediatric Nurse.
- Certified Emergency Nurse.
