Salary
The salary range for this position is $34.50 - $55.20 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

UnitCDH Cardiac Intermediate (3A) – a 26‑bed cardiac step‑down unit that is part of Northwestern Medicine’s prestigious Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute (BCVI). As part of BCVI, we are able to provide the same advanced cardiac care normally only available at a major academic medical center, but in a suburban setting. Our unit cares for patients with a variety of cardiovascular diagnoses, including post‑cardiac surgeries and procedures, and we are proud to be in the country’s top decile of patient satisfaction for over 8 years.
Cross training opportunities to the Telemetry Department are available.
Full‑time nights 7 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with rotating weekends.
Job OverviewA clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
Responsibilities- Collect and analyze data; identify expected outcomes; develop and implement individualized care plans; coordinate care delivery and evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes.
- Direct care and determine appropriate utilization of auxiliary staff involved in providing direct patient care.
- Collaborate with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff; create a documented plan focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services, indicating communication with patients, families, and others.
- Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
- Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record; individualize the plan of care based on evaluation of findings.
- Utilize the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong analytic abilities.
- Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in a clinical nurse role.
- Experience in specific clinical area.
- Additional preferences for the Emergency Room and the Pediatric Emergency Room.
- Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS).
- Emergency Communications Registered Nurse.
- Certified Pediatric Nurse.
- Certified Emergency Nurse.
