Overview
Weekender Part‑Time Days: 7am – 7:30pm.
CDH Cardiac Intermediate (3A) – a 26‑bed cardiac step‑down unit that is part of Northwestern Medicine’s prestigious Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute (BCVI).
As part of BCVI, we provide the same advanced cardiac care normally available only at a major academic medical center, but in a suburban setting. Our unit cares for patients with a variety of cardiovascular diagnoses, including post‑cardiac surgeries and procedures. We are proud to be in the country’s top decile of patient satisfaction for over eight years.
Cross‑training opportunities to the Telemetry Department are available.
Responsibilities- Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
- Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
- Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff.
- Creates a documented plan focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services, indicating communications with patients, families, and others.
- Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
- Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualizes the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings.
- Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
- Basic Life Support certification
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Strong analytic abilities
- Experience in Cardiac Stepdown
- Prepost PACU Department experience (PALS, ACLS)
