The salary range for this position is $34.50 - $55.20 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

Part‑time Nights 7:00 pm–7:30 am with rotating weekends. The role is on a 26‑bed unit that provides treatment, care, and service to adult patients with acute medical, surgical and cardiac conditions, specializing in complicated surgeries. The patient population includes esophagectomies, whipples, surgical‑oncology cases, high‑volume liposuction, multi‑level spinal fusions, vascular cases, and any surgical patients requiring a medication drip not appropriate for a medical‑surgical inpatient unit.

The unit also accepts medical step‑down and overflow patients to enhance hospital throughput. Direct care of the 2A patients is provided by registered nurses with an ideal ratio of 1:3–4 patients for step‑down level of care.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized plans, coordinate care delivery and evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of assistants involved in providing direct patient care.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, physicians and ancillary staff; create a documented plan focused on outcomes and decisions related to care delivery.
  • Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
  • Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and individualize the plan of care based on evaluation findings.
  • Utilize the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Strong analytic abilities
  • Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in a clinical nurse role.
Preferred
  • Experience in Stepdown units
