Library Cleaner

Schedule: Part-time, Non-Exempt, 12 hours per week (2 hours per day, 6 days per week)
Hours: Flexible scheduling during library closed hours
Pay Rate: $19.50-$24.00 Depending on Qualifications

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Library Cleaner to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for library patrons and staff. This role supports daily cleanliness and sanitation needs in a small, approximately 10,000 square foot library facility.

• Approximately 12 hours per week
• Flexible work hours between the following library closing and opening times
  • Cleaning staff may opt to do the work evenings after the library is closed, or mornings before the library is open. They may also opt to come in on Saturdays, outside of library hours (8:30am – 5:00pm), or anytime on a Sunday (closed to public) to do weekly/monthly tasks.
  • On average the job should take approximately 2 hours a day, but additional working hours may be required with prior authorization from the Library Director.

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the library
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors
• Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners
• Dust shelves, desks, counters, windowsills, and other surfaces
• Clean staff areas, offices, and break spaces
• Spot clean glass doors, interior windows, and high-touch surfaces
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to library director
• Follow proper cleaning and safety procedures
• Recycling bin brought to the street on Monday evenings
• Notify Director of needs and supplies with ample time to order

• At least one-year experience as cleaning staff
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, traveling staircases, pushing, and lifting up to 60 pounds
• Dependable and punctual, including reliable securing of the Library outside of operating hours
• Quiet, public-facing library setting
• Approximately 10,000 square foot facility
• Cleaning chemicals and equipment provided
• Outdoors in all weather, for limited job duties
