Job Title:

CNC Programmer – Mastercam / Multi-Axis Machining

This role focuses on creating high-quality CNC programs in Mastercam and related CAM software to support precision machining operations. Working under general supervision, you will develop programs for multi-axis CNC mills, support production on the shop floor, verify part accuracy, and help ensure that all jobs meet stringent quality and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Create and generate CNC programs for assigned jobs using Mastercam and other CAM software for milling, drilling, tapping, boring, facing, and cutting 3D surfaces.
  • Program at least 3‑axis CNC machines and support 5‑axis machining for complex aerospace and precision components.
  • Develop and modify 3D surface geometry, including patching holes and creating support surfaces to generate accurate and efficient tool paths.
  • Follow jobs through on the machines to ensure programs run correctly and meet quality standards.
  • Inspect parts during and after machining to verify conformance to specifications and ensure quality production.
  • Track job progress, materials, and tooling to support on‑time delivery and efficient workflow.
  • Communicate job specifics clearly with other departments and coworkers, including program managers, other programmers, operators, and night shift personnel.
  • Provide operators with prints, work instructions, job details, and CNC programs, and answer technical questions related to the machining process.
  • Use part verification software to validate tool paths and confirm the dimensional accuracy of machined parts.
  • Review and compare engineering prints to 3D models and examine statements of work to understand all job requirements.
  • Properly file CNC programs and maintain organized file storage by backing up and archiving files and completed jobs.
  • Become familiar with and follow quality system requirements as they pertain to the programming and machining department.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations, and by securing tools, materials, and equipment at the end of the day.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve processes, quality, and efficiency.
  • Provide assistance and technical support to coworkers and other departments as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of three years of programming and machining or closely related experience.
  • Strong background in machining and CNC programming with at least 3‑axis CNC experience.
  • At least two years of experience using Mastercam, CATIA, or Tebis for CNC programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to program CNC mills for milling, drilling, tapping, boring, facing, and machining 3D surfaces.
  • Ability to create and modify 3D surface geometry, including patching holes and creating support surfaces for tool paths.
  • Experience using part verification software to validate tool paths and ensure product accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, procedure manuals, and job instructions.
  • Proficiency operating a computer and software, including Microsoft Office products and CAM software.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as I.D. and O.D. micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other measuring equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey detailed technical information to coworkers, leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner and maintain strong working relationships across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple jobs and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Solid math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and to calculate proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
