Master Scheduler

Full Time INDIRECT LABOR Galaxy Winfield, KS, US

Job Summary

The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and coordinating production schedules to ensure the efficient flow of materials and work throughout the manufacturing process. This role works closely with production, engineering, procurement, and leadership to balance capacity, minimize bottlenecks, meet customer delivery requirements, and optimize manufacturing performance. The Master Scheduler serves as a key communication link between departments, proactively identifying risks and adjusting schedules to support on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust daily and weekly manufacturing schedules by work center using the ERP system based on customer delivery requirements and company priorities.
  • Monitor short- and long-term production capacity and collaborate with department leaders to prevent bottlenecks and production delays.
  • Analyze production constraints and proactively reorganize schedules to maximize workflow efficiency.
  • Communicate scheduling risks, delays, and recovery plans to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Lead production scheduling and schedule review meetings, ensuring action items are identified and assigned.
  • Revise production schedules in response to engineering changes, material shortages, labor constraints, equipment downtime, or backlog changes.
  • Coordinate material movement as needed to support production priorities and expedite manufacturing flow.
  • Initiate material or supply requisitions when necessary to support production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels, work-in-process, and production progress to support scheduling decisions.
  • Prepare reports related to production status, inventory, scheduling performance, and manufacturing issues.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure production objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain accurate scheduling data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on scheduling accuracy, production efficiency, and on-time delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in production scheduling, shop expediting, manufacturing planning, procurement, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP, MRP, or SAP systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing scheduling, inventory control, production planning, and material flow.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with capacity planning and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of production metrics, inventory optimization, and scheduling best practices.

This position primarily works in a climate-controlled office environment with regular use of computers and office equipment. The role also requires periodic time on the manufacturing floor to monitor production status, communicate with operations personnel, and support scheduling activities. The position involves frequent sitting, occasional standing and walking, regular computer use, and the ability to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis.
