Travel RN - Labor & Delivery

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring prior travel experience and a minimum of 2 years of L&D nursing background.

• Active KS or compact RN license required at time of consideration (no pending licenses)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in assisting with sterile speculum exams, NSTs, reflex checks, and sterile vaginal exams
• Experience with external and internal fetal monitoring (EFM), including IUPC placement and calibration
• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience managing high-risk and vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extractions, and C-Sections
• Skilled in neonatal and newborn care, including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Experience with postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care and wound assessment
• Familiarity with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline
• Experience assisting with surgical cases such as Cervical Cerclage preferred
• One professional reference required for consideration

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a critical access hospital
• Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month
• Unit settings include Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, LDRP, and Mother/Baby
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Every third weekend required
• Floating to different units may be required
• Centricity EMR experience preferred
• Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis with manager approval
• Provide comprehensive nursing care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care areas
• Support high-risk and low-risk obstetric patients through vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Assist with pain management including epidural anesthesia and other pain assessment protocols
• Provide newborn care including circumcision assistance, cord care, and discharge teaching to parents
• Support breastfeeding and lactation services under baby-friendly protocols
• Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols as required
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• No radius restriction for this position
• First-time travelers will not be considered; previous travel nursing experience is required
