Quality Engineer

Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually
Job PurposeSupports the Quality Management System by combining technical inspection expertise with strong technical writing, audit support, compliance monitoring, KPI reporting, training, and documentation control. Works with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and other cross‑functional teams to ensure product, process, and procedural requirements meet company, customer, and regulatory standards.
Essential FunctionsWrite, revise, and maintain internal quality procedures, work instructions, forms, inspection plans, audit checklists, training materials, and other controlled documentation.
Support documentation control activities, including review cycles, revision accuracy, document releases, record retention, and compliance with company and customer requirements.
Plan, conduct, or assist with internal process and quality system audits; document findings, prepare objective evidence, track corrective actions, and verify closure.
Support customer, supplier, and third‑party audits by preparing documentation, gathering records, coordinating responses, and assisting with follow‑up actions.
Monitor compliance to quality procedures, specifications, drawings, inspection requirements, customer standards, and applicable Quality Management System requirements.
Collect, analyze, and report KPIs, including audit findings, nonconformances, inspection results, supplier performance, corrective actions, calibration status, and documentation performance.
Identify trends in inspection data, audit results, and nonconformance activity; communicate risks and support data‑driven process improvements.
Perform spot checks, first article, in‑process, and final inspections using CMM equipment, laser tracker, optical comparator, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, hardness tester, scales, and related tools.
Manage and complete First Article Inspection documentation with a high level of accuracy, traceability, and compliance to customer and internal requirements.
Review planning documents, drawings, CATIA models, and manufacturing information to verify accuracy, inspection requirements, manufacturability, and documentation alignment.
Train entry‑level employees and cross‑functional team members on inspection methods, CMM use, measurement tools, documentation practices, audit readiness, and quality procedures.
Participate in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action activities, risk reduction, and continuous improvement projects.
Assist with supplier quality monitoring by reviewing supplier records, inspection results, nonconformance reports, and corrective action responses.
Support calibration tracking by verifying equipment status, maintaining records, and reporting nonconforming or overdue tools to management.
Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams to promote adherence to quality standards, inspection procedures, safety rules, and best practices.
Additional ResponsibilitiesAssist Quality Management, manufacturing personnel, and other departments with audits, documentation reviews, investigations, and improvement activities.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area; comply with PPE requirements, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Contribute to team meetings, training initiatives, audit readiness activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications and RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; three or more years of CAD, inspection, machining, quality, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
Strong technical writing skills with the ability to create clear procedures, work instructions, audit summaries, reports, and training documentation.
