We are looking for an ES&H Representative (Field Supervision) for one of our clients in the Mining Industry. In this role, you will provide technical oversight of the project’s ES&H compliance activities through inspection of project field execution activities. You will assist project and construction management in implementing and complying with project safety requirements and in addressing ES&H issues as they arise during project execution.

You will work directly with other project-level functions (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist them in addressing the applicable ES&H requirements in their work activities and conduct daily site surveillance to verify adequate use of PPE, routine equipment inspections, and project compliance.

Responsibilities & Essential Duties
  • Coordinate a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of company's ES&H program and ES&H Management System, including aiding compliance with company's ES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and participate in site meetings with project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety requirements.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities.
  • Maintain ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions.
  • Perform statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement and make recommendations accordingly; identify and coordinate use of unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnel.
  • Lead teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues.
  • Prepare communications, write reports, and prepare documents for program execution and records retention.
  • Coordinate incident notifications, lead investigations, and prepare incident investigation reports.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential.
  • Participate in and may lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs; coordinate ES&H recognition programs.
  • Research moderately complex issues and provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Skills)
  • Requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental, safety, health or science-related discipline and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910 required.
  • Understanding of company's ESH Core Processes (preferred).
  • Able to perform root cause analysis as needed for incident investigations.
  • Conduct Project Contractor Orientation Leads and implements.
  • Project ESH Audits, monitoring completion of specified corrective actions.
  • Coach contractor Project and Safety Team on the company Processes and expectations.
  • Knowledge of safety programs/engineering systems, principles, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of national safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ requirements and responsibilities, industry standards/current practices for ES&H, and best management practices for minimizing potential ES&H risks during project execution.
  • Experience in ES&H assessments/inspection during construction.
  • Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of ES&H subcontractors or consultants.
