Humboldt General Hospital is a 67-bed Critical Access Hospital serving rural north-central Nevada, offering a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and diagnostic services. The hospital’s facilities include Harmony Manor, a five-star long-term skilled nursing and memory care unit with 34 beds, and Quail Corner with 8 additional beds. The Casual Call Pharmacist is an on-site role based at Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca, NV. This role is responsible for interpreting and dispensing medication orders, verifying dosages, and ensuring safe and effective medication use for inpatients and long-term care residents. The pharmacist collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to answer drug information inquiries, and support clinical decision-making. Daily tasks include reviewing patient profiles, monitoring for drug interactions and allergies, overseeing sterile and non-sterile compounding, and maintaining accurate documentation in the pharmacy information system.

The Casual Call Pharmacist also assists with medication inventory management, compliance with regulatory and safety standards, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and occasional patient and staff education on medications and treatment plans.

• Licensure and education:
  Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license (RPh or PharmD) in the state of Nevada, or eligibility to obtain; graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy; residency or equivalent clinical experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Clinical pharmacy skills:
  Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, dosing, and drug interactions; ability to evaluate medication regimens for safety and efficacy; experience with inpatient and outpatient medication management is beneficial.
• Regulatory and safety skills:
  Familiarity with state and federal pharmacy regulations, Joint Commission standards, and medication safety practices; commitment to accurate documentation and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
• Technical and systems skills:
  Proficiency with Cerner Community Works, electronic health records, and Omni Cell dispensing technology; comfort with using clinical decision-support tools (Sentri7) and medication databases.
• Communication and collaboration skills:
  Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams; strong counseling and education skills; capacity to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills:
  Attention to detail
