Position: CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)
POSITION SUMMARY Provides basic nursing care to patients in the medical-surgical, telemetry, intensive care and pediatric unit according to established standards and practices. Functions under the direct supervision of a nurse.

TASK LETTER CODE PRIMARY DUTIES(Are the essential job tasks or primary responsibilities that the individual who holds the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of an accommodation. For example: “DO” (action verb) + “WHAT” (object) – “Collects vitals from patients at the beginning of the visit according to protocol”.% OF TIME PERFORMING DUTYAProvides patient’s personal hygiene, assists with bedpans, urinals, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, oral care, showers, etc.

BProvides and assists with ADLs: assists with meals and feeds patients, ambulates, turns and positions patients, provides fresh water and nourishment between meals.

CCompetently takes vital signs on adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.

DPerforms competently during emergency, busy or otherwise stressful situations in the department.

ECompetently performs nursing aide procedures and patient care under the direction of a RN/LPNFPrepares patient rooms for admission.

GUtilizes techniques of infection control, including proper hand washing and handling of linen, according to standard precautions.

HPromptly answers patient call lights and requests.

IConsistently obtain patient weight on admission and as ordered.

JCollects specimens as requested.

KCommunicates pertinent information regarding changes in patient condition to the responsible RN/LPN.LConsistently functions within scope of practice for a Certified Nursing Assistant.

MCompletes patient charges appropriately.

NRecords all entries in EHR, documents in an informative and complete manner.

ODemonstrates skill and accuracy in hospital computer application.

PDocuments patient care and procedures/interventions accurately and thoroughly in accordance with hospital standards.

QConsistently records I & O.RAccepts the need to float when staffing dictates.

SSupports the department by attending and constructively contributing to staff or other meetings as able/necessary.

TAttends 75% of Staff Meetings.

UResponsible for informing nurse managers of nursing activities, needs, problems, and unusual events.

VParticipates in stocking, sorting, and inventory of departmental supplies to ensure appropriate items are readily available for patient care needs.

WMaintains a clean, organized and safe working environment in both patient care and clerical areas.

XAs a member of the health team will maintain harmonious relationships with unit and co-workers providing support and assistance to co-workers to ensure quality patient care.

YCommunicates clearly and tactfully with residents and families.

ZMaintains confidentiality of all patient/resident/staff information.

AAOther related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent

Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant course

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Must be able to read, write, and speak English language in an understandable manner

Basic knowledge of medical terminology

Basic computer knowledge and skills REQUIRED

CERTIFICATIONS:

BLS certification

Active Nevada Certified Nursing Assistant License SPECIAL

SKILLS:

Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family, visitors, and the public
