Job Summary
DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES is recruiting for a Casework Management Specialist I (under filling Casework Management Specialist III) for the Winnemucca Child Welfare office. In this trainee role, incumbents learn to determine clients' social service needs, develop case plans, and provide ongoing case management services under close supervision.
Advancement is possible after meeting qualification, satisfactory performance, and endorsement.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, special education, human growth and development, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, gerontology, or closely related social science or human services field.
Job DutiesDevelop, manage, and implement case and safety plans by interviewing clients, families, collaterals, court stakeholders, and service providers to support safety, permanency, and well‑being. Conduct ongoing assessments using agency‑approved tools, establish service needs, and advise clients on rights and responsibilities.
Identify and develop goals and strategies, review client history, recommend changes, remediate deficits, and provide intervention strategies. Assist service providers in learning techniques to enhance client relationships and evaluate effectiveness of the plan. Utilize evidence‑based practices to achieve behavior change.
Monitor client and family progress; coordinate resources and referrals; provide financial assistance assistance as appropriate; coordinate with outside agencies, medical personnel, school districts, courts, community organizations, law enforcement, and legal professionals. Resolve service delivery issues and manage crisis situations.
Conduct assessments, perform home visits, arrange transportation, prepare court reports, verify services, and train care providers as required. Maintain regulatory documentation, write reports for courts and agencies, and provide information to teams.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams, staff meetings, task forces, and continue education to enhance job performance. Perform related duties as assigned. Training and supervision are provided.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of: interviewing techniques, case management practices, service coordination, human growth and development, individual and group behavior principles, socio‑economic conditions, problem‑solving, research techniques, and report preparation.
Skill in: maintaining case files, using computers to enter, store, and retrieve data.
Ability to: interact effectively with people from diverse background; work cooperatively with public and service providers; communicate verbally and in writing; read and understand technical and legal documents; work independently with minimal direction; organize and prioritize work.
