Position: CASEWORK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST 1 - UNDERFILL

Casework Management Specialist 1

DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES is recruiting for a Casework Management Specialist 1 in the Winnemucca Child Welfare office. The role is a trainee level under supervision, responsible for determining the social service needs of clients, developing case plans, and providing ongoing case management services to children and families.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and implement case plans and safety plans by interviewing clients, family members, collaterals, court stakeholders and care providers.
  • Assess individuals/clients using agency approved assessment tools to evaluate, identify and determine social service needs and advise clients of their service‑related rights and responsibilities.
  • Identify goals and develop strategies, review client’s history, report observations and recommend changes, and remediate deficits with intervention strategies.
  • Provide crisis intervention and manage angry, hostile or combative clientele.
  • Monitor client and family progress; coordinate and evaluate services, make referrals, and assist clients in obtaining financial assistance.
  • Conduct assessments, perform home visits, prepare reports for court, monitor service delivery and quality of living environment.
  • Document case activities, prepare and submit written reports for courts, federal and state agencies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams, staff meetings, committees, task forces, and training sessions.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, special education, human growth and development, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, gerontology, or a closely related social science or human services field.
Knowledge of
  • Interviewing techniques to aid in identifying service needs; case management practices and service coordination;
  • Factors influencing human growth and development; principles of individual and group behavior;
  • Socio-economic conditions, trends and factors; problem solving, research techniques and report preparation.
Skill in
  • Maintaining case files and records; operating a computer sufficiently to enter, store and retrieve data.
Ability to
  • Effectively interact with individuals from a variety of economic, cultural, social and educational backgrounds; work cooperatively and effectively with the public, service providers, and co-workers.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; read and understand technical and legal documents; participate as part of a team; work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction; organize and prioritize work.
