POSITION SUMMARY

Join our dynamic team at Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism as a Business Development Manager, focused on driving economic growth in the Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing sectors. Winnipeg is a national leader in aerospace innovation, home to one of the largest aerospace clusters in Canada. Our city supports a full spectrum of capabilities—from aircraft manufacturing and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), to world‑class R&D and training facilities.

Advanced manufacturing in Winnipeg is driving next generation industry, with strengths in precision machining, robotics, additive manufacturing, and leadership in Heavy Vehicle and Equipment, supported by a strong base of large OEM manufacturers and supply‑chain capabilities. Supported by leading research institutions and a strong logistics infrastructure, the sector is a key driver of industrial productivity and export growth.

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, you will be a key player in supporting job creation, investment, and business growth within these sectors. You will be responsible for achieving set KPI’s and representing Winnipeg as a proud ambassador on the domestic, national, and global stage. The ideal candidate should possess a strong ability to engage in meaningful discussions and comprehend the operational growth and challenges faced by scale‑ups, small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs), and large firms.

RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

  • Be a client‑focused ambassador for Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism.
  • Identify and pursue high‑potential business and investment opportunities across these industries.
  • Provide tailored client services to meet their unique needs and challenges.
  • Utilize your industry knowledge to connect clients to resources and opportunities.
  • Assist existing companies in expanding and attracting new businesses to Winnipeg.
  • Manage leads and opportunities effectively using our CRM.
  • Build and nurture key relationships with clients, investors and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with government partners to advance strategic objectives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver exceptional client service to differentiate Winnipeg.
  • Lead sector teams and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff to foster growth and success.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong judgment and creative problem‑solving abilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a business‑related field. Diploma and ample sales experience also considered.
  • Professional experience of 5‑7 years, including business development or sales.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing and aerospace sectors is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
