Organizational Description
Mosaic - Newcomer Family Resource Network is a non‑profit organization that provides immigrant parents and primary caregivers the opportunity to develop additional language skills and build the confidence and independence needed to participate actively in community life, while providing their pre‑school aged children with quality care. Mosaic offers several ESL classes with on‑site childcare in various Winnipeg neighbourhoods. In addition, Mosaic offers parenting programs facilitated by trained and mentored newcomers in several Winnipeg community locations.

Volunteer Opportunity
Description of DutiesAs a childcare volunteer you will be following the direction of the childcare lead and the daily routines of the play room you are assigned to.
- Reading to children
- Assisting in cleaning up
- Helping at snack times
- Playing with children
- Helping to clean up or set up during your shift
- Enjoy working with young children (ages 6 months–5 yrs)
- Flexibility, patience and understanding of children’s needs
- English speaking level of CLB 4 or higher
People who are interested in a career in childcare or education are encouraged to volunteer. You will gain hands‑on experience, and by volunteering with us you will also gain experience working with newcomers to Canada and build on your community experience.

Time Commitment:
Daytime. Child care is offered for students in our English language classes. Our classes run from Monday to Thursday during the times of 9:00 am–3:15 pm.
Location of volunteer opportunity:
Winnipeg – Downtown.
Does opportunity require a criminal record check? Yes. Will cost be reimbursed? No. Does opportunity require a child abuse registry check? Yes. Will cost be reimbursed? Yes.
Opportunity is available to candidates that speak another language (other than French or English):
Eritrean, Sudanese, Arabic or any other language.
