Position: Child Care Assistant (CCA)

Child Care Assistant (CCA) with 40 hours course

Full-time, Term Position

Department:
Norwest Early Learning and Child Care Centre

Location:

105 Lucas Ave and 785 Keewatin St., Winnipeg

Position:
Child Care Assistant (CCA) with 40 hours course

Shift: Available between 7:00am-5:00pm

Status: 3 months term

Hours:

9 hours including one-hour unpaid lunch and 2 paid 15 min breaks

Salary: $21-$24.06/hour (as per CUPE Daycare contract)

Qualifications
  • Classification as Child Care Assistant with 40 hours course
  • Strong interpersonal, team building, and communication skills
  • Current first aid and CPR certification (Level

    C)
  • Good understanding of Manitoba Child Care Program’s Regulations
  • Must be energetic, friendly and enthusiastic
  • Must be willing to take initiative
  • Experience in implementing activities an asset
  • Completion of Canadian Centre for Child Protection’s Commit to Kids online training immediately upon hire
  • Subject to successful criminal record with vulnerable sector search & child abuse registry check.
  • Must complete mandatory 40‑hour course approved by Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care (within first 6 months of employment)
Responsibilities
  • Ensure the physical care and safety of the children.
  • Provide emotional support and nurturing care to children
  • Provide children with the opportunity for growth and development
  • Follow Centre’s behaviour management policy
  • Maintain confidentiality; follow licensing regulations, and know and follow Centre policies and procedures.
  • Work with a team of professionals to meet the individual needs of children who require additional supports.
  • Communicate regularly with families
  • Work directly with children and families who require additional supports
  • Other duties as assigned
