Job ProfileUnder the general supervision of the Audio-Visual Coordinator, the Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for setting up and operating electronic and audio/visual equipment to facilitate the broadcasting, live streaming, and recording of Council and Committee meetings, on- and off-site press conferences, and other events, and resolving any related problems.
The Technician also edits and uploads meeting recordings to You Tube and the Decision Making Information System and maintains department audio and video equipment. Other related duties and special assignments consistent with the classification are also performed.
As The Audio Visual Technician Your Duties Will Include- Assist the Audio-Visual Coordinator to implement all requests for electronic equipment.
- Attend and/or monitor all meetings of Council, Committees, Board of Revision, Pess Conference and Special Events and assist with audio-visual operations to ensure meetings are successfully broadcast, live-streamed and recorded.
- Liaise with television technicians to ensure that Council meetings, press conferences and special events are recorded and/or broadcast.
- Assist in training of operation of audio and video equipment to Departmental staff.
- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Previous experience in the operation of audio/visual equipment, including cameras, microphones, computer control boards, and components for audio/video control room.
- Experience with various streaming platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, You Tube, etc.
- Experience working within a political environment would be considered an asset.
- Ability to facilitate support and guidance to stakeholders regarding Microsoft or other program needs for presentation requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines.
- Ability to exercise independent decision making, sound judgement, and work closely with other staff and external stakeholders.
- Ability to handle confidential and discreet matters.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to create and maintain accurate audio visual files and records.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a high-stress environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people including external vendors/suppliers, public officials, all levels of departmental, other city staff, and elected officials.
