Job Profile
Under the general supervision of the Audio-Visual Coordinator, the Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for; setting up and operating various electronic and audio/visual equipment to facilitate the broadcasting, livestreaming and recording of Council and Committee meetings, as well as on and offsite press conferences and other events, and resolves any related problems that may arise. The Technician also edits and uploads meeting recordings to You Tube and the Decision Making Information System.
The Audio-Visual Technician maintains Department audio and video equipment and performs other related duties and special assignments consistent with the classification.
As the Audio Visual Technician your duties will include:
- Assist the Audio-Visual Coordinator to implement all requests for electronic equipment.
- Attend and/or Monitor all meetings of Council, Committees, Board of Revision, Pess Conference and Special Events and assist with audio-visual operations to ensure meetings are successfully broadcast, live streamed and recorded.
- Liaise with television technicians to ensure that Council meetings, press conferences and special events are recorded and / or broadcast.
- Assist in training of operation of audio and video equipment to Departmental staff.
Your education and qualifications include:
High school graduation or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Previous experience in the operation of audio/visual equipment. This includes but not limited to cameras, microphones, computer control boards, components audio/video control roomExperience with various streaming platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, You Tube, etc.Experience working within a political environment would be considered an asset.Ability to facilitate support and guidance to stakeholders in regards to Microsoft or other program needs for the purpose of their presentation requirements.Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work assignments to ensure deadlines are met.Ability to effectively exercise independent decision making, sound judgment and the ability to work closely with other staff and external stakeholders.Ability to deal with matters in a confidential and discreet manner.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to create and maintain accurate audio visual files and records.Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a high stress environment.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people including external vendors/suppliers, public officials, all levels of departmental, other city staff, and elected officials is critical.
