Position Title:
Producer – Assignment (English Services) (On Site)

Iqaluit, Nunavut
This full‑time permanent role places you on the CBC North news development team in Iqaluit. The producer leads the creation and assignment of TV and radio content for reporters from Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet and Yellowknife, ensuring high‑quality journalism that serves Canadian audiences and promotes Inuktitut language programming.
Responsibilities Direct the team and establish the editorial plan for the show and streaming channel each day.
Collaborate with the digital Senior Producer to maximize a digital‑first strategy.
Allocate resources for video and other platforms with assigning producers.
Manage the story‑development process and schedule in partnership with the executive producer.
Help VJs, reporters and videographers develop pitching and storytelling skills.
Write, vet, edit and review scripts, stories and question lines for the show as needed.
Support the host in delivery and performance.
Communicate and coordinate with producers across media platforms.
Determine the look, feel, style, pace, lineup and format of the program against established criteria and values.
Guide staff through change and provide ongoing feedback.
Take daily responsibility for the journalism on the program and streaming channel.
Develop program, online and social‑media content, including research, text, graphics and video.
Qualifications Graduation from university or college plus at least 5 years of practical journalism experience, including interviewing and broadcast writing.
Proven leadership experience in a team or unit.
Experience in video story development across multiple formats.
Experience providing constructive feedback and mentoring junior staff.
Strong knowledge of journalism ethics, fact‑checking, and legal implications.
Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines, including overtime as required.
Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
High creativity, initiative and responsibility for accuracy and quality.
Innovation with programming, format, and visual elements.
Broad knowledge of social media, digital platforms, and new‑media storytelling.
Demonstrated creativity in producing video content for digital and broadcast media.
Problem‑solving skills and commitment to an inclusive, respectful work culture.
A deep appreciation for the diverse cultures, opinions and experiences of Canada.
Ability to re‑imagine daily news in tone, format and visual elements.
Possibility of skills and knowledge testing during recruitment.
Fluency in Inuktitut is an asset but not required.
