U Multicultural is a community-driven media platform, TV and FM radio broadcaster located in Winnipeg. We are committed to creating diverse, inclusive, and engaging content that amplifies the voices and stories of Canada’s multicultural landscape. We are currently looking for a passionate and dynamic Radio Journalist/Producer to join our team.

Job Description:

As a Radio Journalist/Producer, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and producing compelling radio stories and segments for our community radio channel. You will cover a wide range of topics, including culture, community events, current affairs, and human interest stories with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and representation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop story ideas relevant to multicultural and Indigenous communities.
  • Write, edit, and produce radio segments, interviews, and news reports.
  • Conduct interviews with community members, leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure high-quality audio and storytelling.
  • Keep up-to-date with current events, cultural trends, and community issues.
  • Support the community sessions for TV channel.
  • Maintain and update the weekly radio schedule.
  • Adhere to journalistic standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity.
  • Meet deadlines and produce content in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Journalism, Broadcasting, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in radio journalism or a similar role.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to craft clear and engaging scripts.
  • Excellent interviewing and communication skills.
  • Experience with audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition, or similar).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of multicultural and Indigenous issues is an asset.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
