Summary Of Duties Under the supervision of the executive producer, responsible for managing (planning, organizing, coordinating) day-to-day operations and logistics at all stages of production: development, pre-production, post-production and delivery. Regularly monitors budgets, production stages and schedules, and rights-management processes. Minimum 3 days per week in the NFB office
Main Responsibilities Works in close collaboration with the producer to complete script analyses and contributes to the budget-planning process for projects.
Plans the technical aspects and requirements (format, equipment, deliverables, etc.) for productions and liaises with Technical Resources teams.
Collaborates with Technical Resources teams to set up production workflows.
Responsible for the ongoing update and optimal use of designated tracking tools (e.g., Flow), consistently applies established processes for deliverables; on occasion, participates in continuous-improvement initiatives for these tools and their implementation.
Participates in building production teams; negotiates rates and contracts for production team members (production, post-production, launch) in close collaboration with the producer.
Plans production stages and shooting schedules, and monitors production calendars.
Responsible for managing the daily operations required to complete projects, while adhering to budget allocations and established production schedules.
In collaboration with the producer, follows up on rights-management activities with production coordinators.
Liaises with Technical Resources teams to track post-production stages, based on established schedules and budgets, policies and NFB and industry standards, as well as administrative and technical production procedures.
Coordinates the photo selection process for each project to meet archival, marketing and other needs, based on current guidelines.
Under the supervision of the producer, responsible for the delivery of all production and technical elements in accordance with internal processes (complete list and as per workflow deliverable specifications) and, where applicable, with the contractual requirements of co-productions.
Required Training, Knowledge And Experience University degree in a relevant field, such as film production or any other related discipline;
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of documentary film production, or relevant combination of education and experience;
Good knowledge of artistic, financial, editorial, technical and administrative activities related to production;
Relevant experience in the development, management and control of production schedules and budgets, as well as funding allocations;
Extensive knowledge of post-production workflows, processes and standards in the audiovisual field;
Strong understanding of collective agreements and how they apply to the Canadian film/television industry;
Strong network of film and television crew members and members of the documentary industry, particularly in Manitoba;
High degree of comfort managing location-based production in a variety of communities, located in urban, rural and remote regions;
Ability to travel for shoots, post-production and operational meetings as required;
Experience using a variety of project-tracking software (e.g., Flow, Smartsheet) and visual presentation and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office), including a high level of comfort and proficiency with MS Excel;
Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Proficiency in French (written and spoken) is an asset.
