Senior Designer; Branding & Packaging

Position: Senior Designer (Branding & Packaging)
Markage is looking for a Senior Designer (Branding & Packaging) to join our fully remote Canadian team. This role focuses on leading brand identity and packaging design from concept through production-ready execution. You will develop visual systems that work across identity and packaging, apply them consistently across product ranges and brand touchpoints, and maintain quality through revisions, artwork, and production handoff.

You will work with design directors, strategists, artwork specialists, producers, client teams, and external production partners. Clear communication, reliable follow-through, and careful work are expected. AI-assisted tools may be used for brand research, visual exploration, packaging references, presentation preparation, and production checking. All AI-assisted work must be reviewed for accuracy, relevance, confidentiality, and fit before it is shared or used.
Essential duties:
Lead branding and packaging design work streams from concept through final delivery.
Develop identity systems, packaging concepts, visual languages, and product-range applications.
Translate strategic direction into clear visual concepts and practical design systems.
Design across packs, labels, cartons, presentation mockups, brand assets, and related touchpoints.
Review copy placement, hierarchy, mandatory content, visual consistency, and production constraints.
Present concepts and design rationale to internal teams and clients.
Guide designers and artwork specialists through revisions, extensions, and production preparation.
Coordinate closely with production teams to protect design intent through final artwork.
Maintain organized files, versions, dielines, references, and approved design decisions.
Identify design or production risks early and help resolve them before final delivery.
Essential requirements:
Strong professional portfolio showing senior-level design thinking and finished work.
Experience owning design work streams and carrying work from concept through delivery.
Advanced working knowledge of professional design tools and production workflows.
Ability to explain decisions clearly and give useful design feedback to others.
Holds a valid Dex Professional Senior Specialist Certification (DEX-PSS) in the Arts, Media & Creative Production domain.

Preferred qualifications:

Agency or packaging-studio experience.

Experience with packaging systems across multiple SKUs, formats, or markets.
Knowledge of print production, dielines, materials, finishes, or packaging artwork workflows.
