We are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and community-minded Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a finance professional who is passionate about supporting Indigenous initiatives, community development, and organizational success through strong financial leadership.
Position SummaryThe Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting Indigenous programs, organizations, and community-based projects through effective financial management, reporting, and strategic guidance. Working closely with clients and internal teams, the successful candidate will oversee financial operations, ensure compliance with funding agreements and accounting standards, and contribute to long-term financial sustainability and capacity‑building initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Manage financial operations for client programs, projects, and organizations
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial reports
- Monitor expenditures and provide financial analysis to support decision‑making
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements, accounting standards, and regulations
- Support audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors
- Assist with financial planning, reporting improvements, and internal controls
- Provide financial guidance, mentorship, and training to clients and community administrators
- Build strong relationships with Indigenous leaders, organizations, and partner agencies
Participate in meetings, presentations, and occasional travel to client communities

Qualifications & Experience- Minimum 5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience
- CPA, CAFM, or other professional designation considered an asset
- Strong accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting experience
- Knowledge of fund accounting and contribution agreement reporting is an asset
- Experience working with external auditors and audit processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and financial software systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work respectfully with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, governance, and community priorities is highly valued
