The Agribusiness Account Manager – Small Business supports members and prospects within the Agribusiness Financial Centre by managing a portfolio of small to medium-sized agricultural and agribusiness relationships. Reporting to the Manager, AFC, this role is responsible for delivering proactive member service, building strong relationships, supporting business development, and assessing credit needs for borrowing and banking requests that are generally more straightforward in nature.

The position contributes to portfolio growth and retention while supporting sound practices in relationship management, credit, risk assessment, and member advice. This role works with members in the small business market with credit approvals up to $500,000.

This role supports ACU’s commitment to rural and agricultural communities by delivering responsive, relationship-based service to members and prospects while contributing to values-based banking and ACU’s triple bottom line accountability to people, planet, and prosperity.

KEY

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Manage and grow a designated portfolio of small to medium-sized agricultural and agribusiness relationships while delivering responsive, proactive, and relationship-based member service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members and prospects by understanding their operations, identifying needs, and providing timely advice and support aligned with ACU products and services.
  • Contribute to portfolio growth by identifying opportunities within assigned relationships, supporting referral activity, and participating in efforts to expand ACU’s presence within the agribusiness market.
  • Promote and provide advice on agricultural and agribusiness banking products and services that meet member needs while adhering to established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess credit requests within approved limits by analyzing financial information, cash flow, security, and business operations to support sound lending recommendations and decisions.
  • Apply lending processes, operating procedures, and service standards to deliver a consistent, accurate, and positive member experience.
  • Monitor assigned accounts and support sound portfolio management practices by identifying risk concerns early, maintaining accurate and current information, and ensuring files remain in compliance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain current knowledge of agricultural industries, market conditions, competitor offerings, and local factors affecting member operations in order to strengthen advice, decision-making, and relationship management.
  • Maintain an active presence across rural branches and communities through on-site member visits, participation in industry and community events, and visible support of local business development initiatives.
  • Demonstrate ACU’s values-based banking approach and uphold respectful workplace expectations in all interactions with members, communities, and colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS Education and experience

This position requires a diploma or degree in Business, Agribusiness, finance, accounting, or a related field, plus minimum 2 years of lending, financial services, agriculture, or small business experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
