JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, the Human Resources Generalist (HRG) provides professional, full-cycle human resources support. Working in partnership with leaders across Siloam Mission, the HRG leads recruitment activities and coordinates the organization’s onboarding process. The HRG is responsible for coordinating and administering employee records, benefits and leave administration, training and development, policy administration, and other HR programs and initiatives.

This role is a member of the Health & Safety Committee. The HRG is a trusted resource to leaders and employees, providing guidance and coaching on HR policies, procedures, and best practices while supporting employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, and organizational initiatives.

The role contributes to a positive workplace culture by ensuring HR services are delivered consistently, confidentially, and in compliance with employment legislation and organizational policies.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate the full-cycle recruitment process, including receiving requisitions, preparing job postings, coordinating and performing interviews, conducting reference checks, obtaining and monitoring employment eligibility requirements such as security checks and work permits, and preparing and presenting employment offers.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and support effective recruitment strategies, ensuring hiring practices are compliant with Siloam policies and applicable legislation.
  • Develop, review, and maintain job descriptions that accurately reflect organizational needs and position requirements.
  • Schedule and facilitate orientation and offboarding activities to ensure a positive employee experience, systems access, and compliance with organizational requirements.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to employees and leaders on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations while promoting the consistent application of HR best practices.
  • Participate in and lead workplace investigations, mediation, and conflict resolution processes.
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and employee communications.
  • Coordinate and support leave administration, including tracking leaves, WCB reporting, and return-to-work processes in collaboration with managers and payroll.
  • Coordinate and continuously improve organizational training and development programs that support compliance, employee development, succession planning, and organizational priorities.
  • Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs and coordinate appropriate training solutions.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain training materials, learning resources, orientation programs, and training records.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on participant feedback, Siloam needs, and measurable outcomes.
  • Promote employee participation in learning and development initiatives through effective communication and program administration.
  • Administer and maintain the HRIS, ensuring data integrity, accurate reporting, and support effective system utilization.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential paper and electronic employee records and HR documentation.
  • Administer employee status changes, wage changes, employment documentation, and other HR transactions.
  • Assist in maintaining HR intranet content.
  • Monitor HR metrics and prepare reports as requested to support decision-making, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of HR policies, programs, projects, and initiatives that support departmental and organizational objectives and values.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment legislation, regulatory requirements, and HR practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment legislation, organizational policies, and record retention requirements.
  • Represent Human Resources on the Workplace Safety and Health Committee.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and equitable workplace culture consistent with the Siloam Mission’s values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are related to the position.
