Salary Range: $48,870.00 To $58,353.00 Annually

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Payroll Administrator position within our Human Resources Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB
. The Payroll Administrator is responsible for delivering payroll and transactional services for all employees.

  • Execute the day-to-day payroll operations, compliance adherence, control framework, payroll accounting and general ledger reporting requirements;
  • Maintain up-to-date employee payroll records, including timecards, salary adjustments, deductions, and benefits;
  • Process employee changes, including new hires, leaves, transfers, salary adjustments, terminations, and other changes in accordance with legislative requirements and organizational policies/procedures;
  • Issue final payments and Record of Employment (ROE);
  • Monitor and manage the Payroll Inbox, addressing employee inquiries and actively resolving payroll discrepancies in coordination with relevant departments;
  • Respond to external parties’ requests for information, such as Record of Employment and WCB earnings.
  • Perform specialized finance functions including journal entries, audit preparation, affiliate invoicing, and remittances for Group Benefits, Pensions, RRSPs, and Garnishments;
  • Assist in payroll year-end processes and reporting activities;
  • Assist external auditors during interim and annual audits of corporate records;
  • Work closely with the Payroll Team and senior leadership to improve the processes, accuracy, and efficiency of the timekeeping and payroll procedures and policies.
Skills and

Qualifications:
  • Designation or Certification as a Payroll Compliance Professional or Practitioner;
  • Three years’ related experience in payroll and financial analysis and reporting;
  • Experience with Sage 300 and/or ADP is a strong asset;
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian payroll and employee benefits administration;
  • Experience executing payroll in a large-size ERP enabled government;
  • Considerable knowledge of business process analysis and system design and implementation;
  • Acceptable Criminal Record Check is required;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office:
    Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
