The Senior Payroll Coordinator is responsible for supporting Actionmarguerite’s payroll function and will provide leadership to the Payroll Team to ensure timely and accurate payroll transactions. The Senior Payroll Coordinator in collaboration with the payroll team is responsible for the overall preparation, processing and submission of the bi-weekly payroll, associated reporting requirements and year-end processes using the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).

The Senior Payroll Coordinator reports to the Human Resources Manager and will work closely with other members of the HR team. The incumbent will provide services to all Actionmarguerite sites and applicable service contracts.

Service and Assignment:Human Resources
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Shift and Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE-full-time-currently 08:00-16:15
Pay Scale: As per established salary scale
Specifications: Assignment and hours of work are subject to change at any time as per operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Formal education in bookkeeping and payroll accounting such as a Canadian Payroll Association certification orrelated education and experience in a computerized payroll environment.
  • Five years practical experience with complete payroll functions, preferably in a health care setting;
  • Experience in a computerized payroll environment (Knowledge of Quadrant Workforce is an asset);
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a Windows environment and MS Office software; and
  • Experience working with collective agreements is an asset.

  • Ability to communicate in both official languages (French and English) or a commitment to develop French linguistic abilities is required;
  • Mathematical aptitudes, accuracy and attention to detail is essential;
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines in a dynamic, changing environment;
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently without supervision;
  • Ability to retain information on a confidential basis;
  • Ability to identify process improvements initiatives and define standards for new processes;
  • Ability to develop / maintain standard operation procedures, including documentation of key payroll processes;
  • Must be in good physical and mental health;
  • Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record, including attendance; and
  • Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.

This position is designated bilingual (French/English). All staff are hired for the facility.

Employees may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities, where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
