Overview
The Archdiocese of Winnipeg is seeking a Part-Time Office of Marriage and Family Life Coordinator to help inspire and support a renewed pastoral vision for marriage and family life. Rooted in the Church’s understanding of marriage and family as central to the life of faith, this role exists to accompany, encourage, and equip families as they live out their vocation in today’s world.
Reporting to the Director of Pastoral Services, the Coordinator will collaborate with parishes, clergy, staff, and lay leaders across the archdiocese to foster vibrant, faith-filled marriages and families. In particular, the role supports the archdiocese in:
- Helping families grow as domestic churches, called to witness Christ’s love within their homes and in the wider community.
- Inviting and engaging families to actively participate in parish life and mission.
- Promoting the lifelong vocation of marriage and strengthening couples at every stage of married life.
- Equipping parents to raise their children in the Catholic faith and to foster a culture of life.
The coordinator also serves as a resource to parish leaders by providing formation, practical tools, and opportunities for collaboration related to stewardship of time and talent, leadership development, and the effective coordination of marriage and family life initiatives across the archdiocese. As a visible representative of the Archdiocesan Church, the successful candidate must be a practicing Catholic, registered in a parish, and committed to living and upholding the teachings of the Catholic Church, with a desire to serve the People of God with faith, professionalism, and pastoral sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Director of Pastoral Services to initiate, develop, and implement Archdiocesan programs, events, and initiatives that support the Marriage Catechumenate and a renewed pastoral vision for marriage and family life.
- Provide leadership and coordination for committees, commissions, and working groups related to Marriage and Family Life.
- Accompany and support parish leaders, including Lay Pastoral Associates, by providing formation, resources, and networking opportunities that assist parishes in evangelization, accompaniment, and ongoing formation of couples and families.
- Review, assess, and strengthen marriage preparation, enrichment, and family life initiatives, proposing strategic directions that promote an authentic Catholic understanding of marriage, human sexuality, family life, and a culture of life.
- Foster collaboration among parishes, religious communities, Catholic agencies, and lay movements that support the vocation of marriage, families and all stages of life.
- Coordinate Archdiocesan events and projects related to marriage and family life.
- Work closely with other Pastoral Service Offices to support parishes in implementing integrated pastoral initiatives related to marriage and family.
- Collaborate with other diocesan and inter-diocesan stakeholders, including the Archdiocese of Saint Boniface and, when appropriate, the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg.
- Oversee and communicate resources, best practices, and success stories related to marriage, family life, parish life, and stewardship.
- Participate in relevant professional development, formation opportunities, staff meetings, and gatherings to remain current in the Catholic Church teachings.
- Carry out other related duties in support of marriage, family life, and parish life as assigned by the Director of Pastoral Services and the Archbishop of Winnipeg.
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge in Pastoral Ministry, Theology, Religious Education or a comparable field preferred
- Practicing Catholic in good standing, actively involved in parish life
- Knowledge of archdiocesan and parish structures and operations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
- Able to work independently and as part of the team
- Skilled at facilitating participation, co-responsibility, and collaboration
- Strong organizational and strategic planning skills
