The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is currently seeking an individual for the position of Yellow Shawl Team Lead. These wide range of duties are to be in the best interest of the child and their families. The Yellow Shawl Team is a partnership between the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre and Community Education Development Association (CEDA) and will phase in a structured independent living program for youth between 16 to 21 years of age who need an innovative youth housing program focused on providing safe and supportive housing.
Responsible for the continued program development, case management, on-call and supervision of program staff, some outreach functions and facilitate a comprehensive evaluation framework.
- BSW degree or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
- Participates in establishing, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the program.
- Maintains an awareness of and facilitates knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and practices of governments and external agencies that impact upon the program.
- Ability to supervise staff and House Mentors.
- Assists individual staff in the assessment, review of case management plans.
- Updates staff work performance.
- Identifies and arranges individual and program area training needs.
- Approves expenditures relating to the area of responsibility.
- Maintains an accurate record of statistical and financial information.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and sensitivity to the issues that impact children/youth/families.
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possesses organizational skills and has an ability to work independently and creatively.
- Computer skills would be an asset.
- Strong motivational and leadership skills.
- Time Management skills.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be an asset.
- Must provide current (within the last three months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Query, Child Abuse Registry and be subject to a Prior Contact Check.
