The Manitoba Chiropractors Association (MCA) promotes, advocates for, and regulates the chiropractic profession in Manitoba. As a member association and self‑regulating professional body, we foster and ensure the highest standard of chiropractic healthcare for all Manitobans – patient safety is our first priority. We govern doctors of chiropractic in Manitoba under the legislative and regulatory authority of The Chiropractic Act.

Description of Duties
The Manitoba Chiropractors Association (MCA) is seeking a Public (Lay) Member to join its Board of Directors. This is a meaningful opportunity for Manitobans with an interest in governance, public accountability, and health system oversight to contribute an independent public perspective to the regulation of chiropractic care in Manitoba. Public Members play a key role in supporting transparency, accountability, and high professional standards.
By bringing an external lens to Board deliberations, Public Members help ensure regulatory decisions remain firmly grounded in the public interest. In addition to regulatory oversight, Public Members may also contribute to discussions related to advocacy initiatives, member support programs, and activities that promote the chiropractic profession.
Skills Required
Experience and knowledge of board governance
Strong communication skills
Analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities
Demonstrated leadership and collaboration
Ability to synthesize complex information
Capacity to exercise objectivity, sound judgment, and diligence
Working knowledge of financial statements and the board‑level budget process, including the ability to review, question, and interpret financial information
Familiarity with regulatory environments (an asset)

This is a volunteer position and is not salaried or wage based.
Public Member Responsibilities
Attend regular Board meetings (typically once per month)
Participate in the MCA Annual General Meeting
Attend occasional special meetings, events, or planning sessions as required
Meetings are generally scheduled during evening. In recognition of the time and expertise contributed, Public Members receive an honorarium for Board meeting participation and reimbursement of approved expenses in accordance with MCA policy.
