Job Description & How to Apply Below
Square One World Media is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing media that reflects a biblical worldview. We produce content that reaches people across Canada and internationally, partnering with churches, donors, and ministry organizations who share our vision. We are a small, mission-driven team that takes both our work and our faith seriously.
The Opportunity
We are searching for an Executive Director to lead Square One World Media through its next chapter. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is the organization's senior leader — responsible for advancing the vision and mission, overseeing operations and programs, managing a committed team, and sustaining the financial health of the organization through active fundraising and donor relationships.
This is a hands‑on leadership role. You will work closely with the Board, represent the organization publicly, and be the person your staff look to for direction, support, and accountability. If you are a leader who is equally comfortable casting vision in front of a church congregation and reviewing a monthly budget with a finance committee, this role was built for you.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and execute the organization's strategic plan
Provide biblically grounded leadership, vision, and motivation to Canadian and international staff
Act as the primary organizational spokesperson and professional advisor to the Board
Identify and communicate internal and external issues that affect the organization
Programs
Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and services
Ensure all programming reflects the organization's mission and Board priorities
Lead the execution and evaluation of special projects
People
Mentor, develop, and build a team united around a common purpose
Determine staffing requirements and oversee all HR functions including hiring, performance management, and, where necessary, discipline and termination
Foster a positive, healthy, and safe work environment
Finance
Lead annual budget development in partnership with staff and the Board's Finance Committee
Oversee all financial operations including expenditure approvals, bookkeeping standards, cash flow monitoring, and regulatory compliance
Provide the Board with regular, comprehensive financial reporting
Fundraising & Community Relations
Represent the financial needs of the organization to foundations, major donors, and churches
Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, ministry partners, and stakeholder organizations
Lead and expand local revenue-generating and fundraising activities
What We're Looking For
A committed follower of Jesus Christ with demonstrated servant leadership character
Proven experience in nonprofit or ministry leadership, ideally including board governance
A track record in fundraising, donor relations, or church/ministry partnership development
Strong communicator — in writing, in front of a congregation, and in a boardroom
Experience managing people, including hiring, developing, and holding teams accountable
Financial literacy sufficient to oversee budgets and report to a board
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or ministry credential is an asset
Cross‑cultural ministry or organizational experience is a strong asset
