JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Philanthropy, Stewardship & Engagement is responsible for ensuring the financial health and sustainability of Siloam Mission. This role develops and executes fundraising, communications, and community engagement strategies that strengthen relationships, increase public awareness, and generate sustainable revenue through financial gifts, cause-related marketing, volunteering, gifts-in-kinds, and endorsements to advance the organization's mission. The Director provides strategic, relationship-driven leadership for Siloam Mission’s philanthropy, communications, and volunteer services functions.
This role is responsible for achieving Siloam Mission’s fundraising goals by designing, leading and executing the fundraising strategy. The Director advises on setting ambitious fundraising goals to ensure long-term financial sustainability, fosters a culture of philanthropy, engages stakeholders in ongoing service and funding activities, and ensures departmental operations align with Siloam Mission’s priorities, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. This includes leveraging key relationships and contacts within the community to achieve Siloam Mission’s revenue goals.
Director of Philanthropy, Stewardship & Engagement leads a multidisciplinary team, cultivates key relationships with donors and community partners, and oversees fundraising, stewardship, communications, volunteer engagement, and CRM best practices.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Planning
Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to develop and execute departmental strategy aligned with organizational goals and mission, vision and values.
Make decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, defensible and aligned with Siloam Mission’s policies and procedures.
Advise the CEO concerning all aspects of assigned function, indicating departmental priorities, opportunities, fundraising alternatives and solutions that support Siloam strategic objectives.
Develop, implement, and regularly review departmental policies, procedures, and systems to ensure operational effectiveness, accuracy, efficiency, service delivery, alignment and compliance with industry-wide best practice.
Fundraising & Revenue Development
Lead and manage Siloam Mission’s overall development efforts to achieve annual budget goals, capital needs, and long-term financial sustainability.
Develop and implement a cohesive strategic fundraising plan to raise funds through individual giving, major/planned giving, grants, corporate giving, employee giving and third-party fundraising events.
Maintain a portfolio of twenty major gift prospects.
Support the CEO with their list of five prospects with the potential to make a transformational gift.
Lead strategy development for capital campaigns and major fundraising initiatives.
Oversee organization and development of third-party fundraising events.
Oversee research of grants and foundation funding opportunities.
Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising.
Donor Stewardship
Develop a comprehensive Donor Stewardship, Recognition and Progression Plan (Donor Journey) that provides individualized engagement opportunities to support donor acquisition, retention, recognition, and long-term support and engagement.
Analyze and respond to trends in donor behaviour through database tracking and reporting to identify opportunities for growth and improved stewardship.
Ensure adherence to the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals (AFP) Code of Ethics and Donor Bill of Rights
Ensure charitable receipting and data management adheres to CRA requirements.
Volunteer Services
Oversee a robust volunteer program from awareness, recruitment, onboarding, engagement, management, recognition, and retention.
Model and promote a culture that recognizes the critical and unique contribution of our volunteer partners to the success of Siloam Mission.
Communication and Public Relations
Oversee the communications portfolio, including advertising, media partnership, and communications vendor agreements.
