We’re looking for a part-time Cook 1 who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy kitchen and enjoys being part of a team that moves quickly, communicates clearly, and supports one another during busy service.
Located right next to Canada Life Centre
, Tavern United Downtown comes alive during Jets games, concerts, and major events. These nights are loud, exciting, and high-volume—perfect for someone who can stay focused, work efficiently under pressure, and take pride in delivering great food when it matters most.
You’ll work alongside experienced cooks and leaders who value reliability and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities- Prepare sauces, soups, and hot entrees for service and special functions, insuring that all stations are set for forecasted covers.
- Maintain food quality and adherence to company standards.
- Assures that all kitchen personnel and servers are aware of specials, plate presentations, and prices.
- Suggest daily specials that incorporate seasonal or special order ingredients.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, FIFO, and WHMIS standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
- Other related tasks and duties as assigned.
- Relevant experience 2+ years.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, safety standards, and kitchen equipment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Availability for evening and closing shifts
, including weekends and event nights. - This role involves lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs as part of regular job duties.
- Valid Food Handler Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Working knowledge of FIFO and WHMIS
. - Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
