The role includes collecting essential water, benthic, and sediment samples across various monitoring stations. You will participate in seasonal research surveys on the MV Namao, analyzing environmental data to inform ongoing water quality assessments. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collect water, sediment, and benthic samples at various sites
• Conduct profiles for dissolved oxygen and other metrics
• Participate in Lake Winnipeg survey cruises on MV Namao
• Execute nearshore sample collection via workboats
• Maintain and organize datasets for quality assurance
Requirements:
• Degree/diploma in aquatic science or equivalent
• Experience in water quality sampling methods
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and travel readiness
Utilize your fieldwork and data interpretation skills to contribute to the ongoing health of Lake Winnipeg’s aquatic ecosystems.
