Roofer

Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting skilled Roofers (commercial) to fill 10+ F/T vacancies in the Calgary, Edmonton, and Lethbridge branches (285221 Kleysen Way SE, Rocky View, Alberta, T1X 0K1; 25672 - 111th Ave, Acheson, Alberta, T7X 6CB
; & 3020 36th St. N. Lethbridge, Alberta, T1H 7B5). Other locations across Alberta will be required based on awarded projects.

The position of “Roofer” is a skilled labour role, in which the Roofer works within a team, reporting to the site foreman to lay a variety of roofs on industrial, institutional and commercial buildings.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Install, repair, maintain and replace single ply roofing systems using:
  • Materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
  • Waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics or asphalt compositions.
• Install, repair, maintain and replace Modified Bitumen (Mod-Bit) roofing,
• Ensure roof membrane is protected from weather conditions such as rain and snow.
• Remove foreign debris from roof to create a safe place to work.
• Use of hand tools and power tools for installation
• Repair, maintain and replacement of all roofing systems.
• Providing training to more junior level, less experienced workers

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum 3 years' roofing (commercial) experience OR completion of a two- to three-year apprenticeship program OR Journeyman/woman certificate OR Journeyman/woman certificate equivalent
• Intermediate English or French skills

Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to work and communicate with others
• Ability to:
  • Install all kinds of buildup roofing systems (including trusses)
  • Instruct apprentices and new workers
  • Learn and obey our extensive company safety policy
• Ability to work at heights

Permanent full time at 30-40 hours a week. Overtime after 8 hours a day, holidays and 44 hours a week, paid at time and a half. $33.50 - $43.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. Salary increase is dependent on annual review;
