Lead Hand - Industrial Mechanic
Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Manager, Building Systems & Maintenance, the incumbent is responsible for investigation and documentation of existing, new, and replacement building systems and components to support the installation, commissioning, startup, maintenance, and servicing of said systems and components. Assists in the organization and coordination of the Shop’s workflow to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Carries out functions of the Industrial Mechanic trade.
Experience- Minimum of five (5) years in the Industrial Mechanic field, preferably in a hospital environment, covering all phases of installation, commissioning, startup, maintenance, and servicing of building systems and components.
- Minimum of two (2) years lead hand or supervisory experience.
- Experience in technical documentation of building systems and components, problem‑solving, and project completion.
- Experience in development of commissioning procedures, and reading, interpreting and verifying contract documents (drawings, specifications and submittals).
- Experience in development of preventative maintenance routines for equipment and systems would be an asset.
Complete Grade 12, Manitoba standards, required.
Certification/Licensure/RegistrationManitoba Journeyman certificate in the Industrial Mechanic trade required.
Qualifications and Skills- The incumbent must be self‑motivated and possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills and an aptitude for customer service.
- Knowledge of related codes and CSA standards required.
- Ability to perform essential physical requirements of the position including manual dexterity.
- Position may require working from ladders, scaffolding, high level platforms or in confined spaces and enclosures.
Requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if obtained no more than six (6) months prior to start of employment.
