Water Meter Reader Position

Join the City of Winnipeg as a Commercial Meter Reader in the Water and Waste Division. This full-time, on-site role focuses on accurate meter readings and customer interactions.

In this position, you will attend various sites to capture water usage and ensure that all meters are functioning correctly. You will assess meter conditions, inspect for tampering, and communicate directly with customers about any discrepancies. A strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain composure under pressure are crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct water meter readings at customer locations

• Inspect seals for tampering or integrity issues

• Confirm abnormal readings and assess plumbing conditions

• Report daily activities and findings to the office

• Enter critical information into handheld devices as needed

Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 12 / G.E.D. education

• Familiarity with water and sewer regulations

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Must hold a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License

• Physical stamina to walk long distances and lift weights
