Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring our buildings remain safe, functional, and welcoming. This position works both independently and as part of a team, collaborating with other trades and staff. Strong customer service, proactive communication, initiative, and teamwork are essential, in addition to solid technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Compliance

Follow all legislated and company safety regulations.

Safely operate tools and equipment; use required PPE.

Inspect facilities, test equipment, and report unsafe conditions.

Ensure tenant and coworker safety; protect belongings when working in suites.

Maintenance & Repairs

Complete work orders such as appliance troubleshooting, minor A/C or water heater repairs, and general building fixes.

Perform small projects including painting, carpentry, plumbing, preventative maintenance, flooring, and cleaning tasks.

Plan and organize more advanced work orders as needed.

Keep work areas clean and follow SOPs for quality and timely completion.

Assist with training new staff when required.

Customer Service

Communicate clearly and respectfully with tenants, managers, caretakers, and contractors.

Reporting & Administration

Use a smartphone for communication and documenting work.

Submit purchase order requests for supplies and tools.

Complete basic logs and documentation.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum 3 years of apartment/commercial building maintenance experience.

Experience and/or exposure to trades such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and/or mechanical is required.

Ability to work independently and manage priorities.

Experience with Yardi is an asset.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Ability to maintain a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Willingness to work occasional hours outside regular schedule and participate in on-call rotation.

Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 kg.

Basic computer/smartphone skills.
