Position Summary
The Assessment Support Technician provides in-person, hands‑on support to assist a licensed school psychologist delivering virtual psycho educational assessments. This role supports the technical and logistical aspects of assessment administration but does not interpret results, select assessment tools, or provide clinical judgment.
This is a part‑time, hourly, flexible position scheduled on an as‑needed basis to align with student availability, school schedules, and virtual psychologist needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assessment Support- Serve as the on‑site facilitator during virtual psycho educational assessments conducted by a licensed school psychologist.
- Assist students with:
- Logging into virtual assessment platforms
- Following test directions as provided by the school psychologist
- Handling and manipulating assessment materials (e.g., response booklets, manipulatives, test forms) as directed
- Ensure assessment conditions meet standardized administration requirements as directed by the psychologist.
- Prepare the testing space to ensure a quiet, distraction‑free environment.
- Set up, distribute, collect, and secure assessment materials.
- Maintain test security and confidentiality in accordance with:
- District procedures
- Minnesota data practices laws
- Publisher test security requirements
- Support audio/video setup for virtual assessment sessions.
- Troubleshoot basic technology issues (e.g., camera placement, microphone functionality, document cameras).
- Coordinate with school staff and the virtual psychologist to resolve access or connectivity issues.
- Follow written and verbal instructions from the supervising school psychologist.
- Document session logistics (attendance, timing, issues encountered).
- Communicate concerns related to testing conditions or student engagement without providing interpretation or conclusions.
- This position does not require and does not function as a licensed school psychologist.
- The Assessment Support Technician does not:
- Select assessment tools
- Interpret assessment results
- Make eligibility, diagnostic, or educational decisions
- Provide counseling or psychological services
- All assessment administration occurs under the direction and supervision of a licensed school psychologist.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures.
- Basic technology skills (video conferencing platforms, document cameras, Chromebooks/iPads).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Experience as a paraprofessional, testing proctor, or educational support staff.
- Familiarity with special education settings.
- Coursework or training in education, psychology, or related fields.
- Hourly, non‑exempt.
- As‑needed and flexible scheduling.
- Hours may vary based on assessment demand, student schedules, and district needs.
- Position may require travel to HVED member schools.
This position is supervised by a licensed school psychologist and/or HVED administrative staff.
