0.5 FTE FTE, 40 hours per pay period
Hours between 7:00 am and 4:30 pm
Rotating on-call schedule for weekends/holidays.

Position Overview:

The Ultrasound Sonographer autonomously performs complex diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures for patients of all ages, under the supervision of qualified physicians for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, and is responsible for the operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment. Sonographers are required to exercise independent judgement in the interpretation and analysis of exams, and provide a preliminary diagnosis of the technical findings to the physician.

Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria. Performs all required examinations demonstrating proper care and safety process. This position will have the opportunity to cross-train in Echocardiography.

  • Selects appropriate equipment and protocol required for patient's exam according to established guidelines.
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy by obtaining complete series of diagnostic, quality images within an agreed upon time frame per protocol.
  • Routinely and accurately obtains reproducible measurements needed per protocol using established manual or computerized methods.
  • Provides interpreting physician with completed study and preliminary findings.
  • Provides ultrasound guidance for basic invasive procedures.
  • Actively engaged in front-line problem solving and improvement activities using CSI tools and principles to enhance the patient experience, improve quality, and reduce waste.
  • Actively involved in departmental focus board meetings.
  • In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned, based upon the needs or requirements of Winona Health.
Essential

Skills and Experience:

Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. Must be certified by the ARDMS or registry eligible in the areas of abdomen and/or OB/GYN within six months of employment.
