Purchasing Specialist

Qualifications

• Two year technical degree in Business, Procurement, related field or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of work experience in an office manufacturing environment.
• Must have competency with Microsoft Office products.
• Must be able to build relationships and communicate professionally with the ability to speak, read, write and understand English.

• Responsible for assisting in the procurement of maintenance, repair, and operating (M.R.O.) supplies, machine components, capital expenditures, service contracts, tool fabrication, chemicals, office supplies, and selected direct material items.
• Resolve pricing and quantity discrepancies with suppliers on mismatched invoices and receivers in assigned area of responsibility.
• Provides clerical support for the Purchasing Department, including filing, vendor follow up/expediting, and record keeping.
• Obtains prices and quotations covering specific needs or requests from various supporting departments.
• Corresponds with and handles communication from suppliers within assigned area of responsibility.
• Conducts sourcing procedures relative to locating better products and/or services required.
• Works with Inventory Control on specific stockroom programs and/or problems.
• Works with supervisory personnel to ensure that budgets are maintained.
• Attends relevant seminars and/or trade shows to keep up to date on current trends in the procurement field.
• Regular attendance, communication and meeting committed deadlines are all essential elements of the job.
• These requirements are key to the operation and effectiveness of this position and if not in place have the potential to impair and diminish expected results.
