Job Title: Production Unit Manager

Department: Operations

Reports to: Site Manager

The production unit manager is responsible for ensuring performance to established safety, quality, cost and productivity standards and best practices through engagement and involvement of production employees. In addition, they will lead the continuous improvement process to optimize safety, quality and productivity within defined manufacturing system and process limits through Area Improvement Teams and other best practice approaches. The production unit manager is the leader of their unit (work) cell.

• Ensure compliance with HSE regulation, quality standards and company policies and reinforce expectations.
• Monitor performance and take corrective actions to ensure compliance with HSE and Quality best practices and productivity targets and other metrics.
• Actively promote a safety culture in the plant.
• Define production schedules and plan necessary resources.
• Employ performance management to drive results.
• Monitor material stock and produced quantities in order to maintain the production schedule.
• Coordinate the investigation of production incidents and the timely response to customer concerns.
• Define procedures in order to cope with non-conformity products.
• Coordinate, with Maintenance, the maintenance planning and budget and ensure their alignment with the production scheduling.
• Evaluate and improve production processes.
• Manage and coordinate between all (internal and external) parties involved in the well-functioning of the production facility.
• Develop and meet fixed and variable cost budget and identify and implement initiatives to reduce fixed and variable costs. Define, propose, implement and follow up the department budget, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Ensure all team members are current on required training in a timely manner.
• Define team structure and the resources / critical skills needed.
• Define objectives for, lead, motivate, coach, develop and evaluate the members of assigned team.
• Participate in the selection, rotation and promotion of team members.
• Drive meaningful year-over-year improvement within established boundaries via employee engagement and continuous improvement tools, such as workout, kaizen, lean sigma, etc. Participate in the development of work cell operating plan, Labor Plan, Budget, and action plans.
• Support cross functional, plant-wide improvement initiatives.
• Provide visible leadership and involve whole team in improvement activities to grow skills and increase engagement.

• Bachelors of Science, Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 3-7 years manufacturing/engineering leadership role.
• An obvious history of roles that clearly demonstrate successful Team Leadership, Problem Solving, Lean Improvement and business results.
• Clear understanding of Lean principles with demonstrated utilization and significant results.
• Leadership of continuous improvement team initiative with significant results.
• Leadership of Six-sigma problem solving team initiatives with significant results.

• Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $XXX,XXX to $XXX,XXX per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
