Job Summary

The Machine Operator Digital is essential to the manufacturing of high-quality fan merchandise. Under general supervision, the operator works individually or as part of a team that produces a large volume of product in any of the Digital Machine work centers. The operator is the primary machine specialist; other production athletes depend on their performance. Responsibilities include digital and/or manual setup for Printing, Laser, Router, CNC, Multi‑Head Embroidery, Cutting, and other digital machines.

The operator may run one to three machines simultaneously during any given shift. The role is physically demanding and requires keeping pace with the machine or line while accurately counting quantities, inspecting and reporting quality issues, and consistently following customer specifications within order instructions. Operators are assigned to varying work centers and must be prepared to report to secondary locations as directed.

Monday – Thursday 2:30 pm – 1:00 am

Essential Job Functions
  • Read and follow specific instructions given on shop packets; verify art files and color copies match product design, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Use FMS to document work processes including check‑out and check‑in of work orders, materials, scrap, and rework functions.
  • Coordinate needed materials to produce orders; monitor raw material and ink inventories and place replenishment orders as necessary.
  • Set up, inspect, adjust, and test run machine for each order—determine settings, guards, belts, lenses, mirrors, needles, color balance, ink coverage, etc., according to machine and order specifications.
  • Complete digital set‑ups including modification of EPS files from the Art Department, downloading correct files from the server, and communicating directly with Art to resolve file issues; assist Art with machine color profiling.
  • Determine the number of pieces to run to meet customer requirements and achieve maximum material utilization.
  • Meet all production standards on all digital work centers, ensuring high quality throughout the production run and catching errors early to minimize rework.
  • Monitor machine, processes, and product output to ensure quality, accuracy, color, and quantity while maintaining efficiency; consult leadership and maintenance with recommended adjustments.
  • Measure and meet set production rates; assist the supervisor with capturing metrics and deliverables.
  • Support co‑workers by setting up and tearing down presses, wiping contaminants from product, loading and unloading jigs, bulk‑packing printed product, and performing other tasks to improve efficiency and throughput.
  • Perform all preventative maintenance for machines and equipment.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and contact Maintenance Techs for advanced issues.
  • May create dies using computerized files and maintain proper storage when not in active use.
  • Perform general housekeeping, 5S, and other Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Adhere to all Department and Company Standards, Operating Procedures, and Safety Requirements.
  • Treat others with respect and conduct oneself in a positive and inclusive manner daily.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational & Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • One or more years of digital equipment operation or technical digital maintenance highly preferred.
General Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, understand shop packet information and follow written instruction.
  • Digital technology and mechanical knowledge sufficient for equipment setup and adjustments.
  • Advanced computer aptitude, including database management and digital file management.
  • Good hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks.
  • Advanced math skills needed to convert percentages, pounds, grams, ounces, etc.
  • Ability to make accurate measurements and complete mathematical computations.
  • Ability to inspect materials and finished products for defects.
  • Ability to learn and apply accurate PMS color‑matching knowledge and distinguish between similar shades of color.
