Overview:
At Thern, our Saw Operators play a key role in keeping production running smoothly and safely. This 2nd shift position is well-suited for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, takes pride in making quality parts, and values being part of a dependable, team‑oriented environment.
In this role, you’ll cut material to specification, read and interpret mechanical prints, and verify dimensions so parts are ready for the next step in the manufacturing process. You’ll use precision measuring tools, enter labor data into our computer systems, and safely move material as needed. If you’re reliable, safety‑minded, and prefer a 2nd shift schedule where focus and teamwork matter, you’ll feel right at home here.
Responsibilities:- Read and interpret mechanical prints and work orders to understand material and cut requirements
- Operate saw equipment to produce accurate, quality parts according to specifications
- Verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, and tape measures
- Accurately enter labor and production information into computer systems
- Move and stage materials using forklifts and overhead cranes (as trained and certified)
- Perform pre‑operation safety checks and follow established safety and quality procedures
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area
- Communicate with team members and supervisors to support production flow and quality standards
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience operating a band saw (1–3 years preferred)
- Experience using forklifts and overhead cranes is a plus (training available)
- Comfortable performing basic math for measurements and material calculations
- Ability to safely lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, accuracy, and quality work
