Assembly Technician
The Assembly Technician plays a key role in building high-quality thermal chambers and sub-assemblies as part of a collaborative production team. You will assemble components, wire harnesses, and metal parts according to schematics, diagrams, and manufacturing instructions, using a variety of hand and power tools. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, requiring precise measurements, careful inspection, and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Assemble sub-assemblies and thermal chambers in collaboration with other production team members, following schematics, diagrams, and manufacturing instructions.
- Build thermal chambers by fitting together components, wire harnesses, and metal parts using appropriate hand tools and power tools.
- Perform electrical and mechanical sub-assembly processes using drills, grinders, pneumatic rivet guns, Dremel tools, and other power tools on a daily basis.
- Align and clamp work pieces accurately using rules, squares, templates, and setup tools, and secure them in fixtures, jigs, or vises as required.
- Use HVAC-related equipment such as manifold gauges, vacuum pumps, and micron gauges to support assembly and testing processes.
- Monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure machines and equipment are operating properly and safely.
- Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to identify errors, defects, or potential problems, and promptly report defects and safety concerns to appropriate team leads.
- Handle, install, position, and move materials and work pieces using hands and arms with consistent attention to safety and ergonomics.
- Read tape measures and cut materials to precise dimensions using equipment such as panel saws and band saws.
- Follow Manufacturing Instructions, Work Instructions, and wiring schematics accurately to complete assemblies and installations.
- Manage time efficiently and work productively without direct supervision while meeting production schedules and quality standards.
- Apply strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, maintain orderly work areas, and support smooth workflow.
- Multi-task effectively and adapt to a constantly changing production environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members to ensure coordinated assembly, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Use basic computer skills to access instructions, record information, or interact with production systems as needed.
- Maintain a clean, static-free, and temperature-controlled work area in accordance with facility standards and safety guidelines.
- Proven ability to read and interpret tape measures and cut materials to precise dimensions using panel saws and band saws.
- Ability to follow Manufacturing Instructions, Work Instructions, blueprints, and wiring schematics accurately.
- Hands-on experience with assembly and mechanical assembly using hand tools and power tools.
- Skill in electrical assembly, wiring, and soldering in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency using tools such as panel saws, band saws, rivet guns, manual and pneumatic epoxy/silicone applicators, nibblers, drills, grinders, and Dremel tools.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery, including safe operation practices.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and basic maintenance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently without direct supervision.
- Ability to multi-task and perform effectively in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to work well with others and contribute positively to a team-oriented environment.
- Strong eye-hand coordination and the ability to see details at close range.
- Basic computer skills sufficient to navigate instructions and enter basic information.
- Ability to read and speak English to understand instructions, safety information, and communicate with team members.
- Physical ability to frequently lift and move lightweight materials up to 10 pounds.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to frequently stand for up to 10-hour days, and to sit, bend, reach, and walk throughout the shift.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a clean, static-free, and temperature-controlled manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience using HVAC equipment such as manifold gauges, vacuum pumps, and micron gauges.
- Comfort working with inspection tools and methods to identify defects and ensure quality standards.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and schematic interpretation in an assembly setting.
- Attention to detail and commitment to reporting safety concerns and product defects promptly.
