Executive Director Advocacy Center of Winona (ACW)

Winona, Minnesota | Full-Time | Exempt

The Advocacy Center of Winona (ACW) is seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and strategic Executive Director to lead our organization in advancing safety, healing, and empowerment for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Executive Director serves as the chief executive leader of ACW, overseeing organizational strategy, finances, programs, staff, fundraising, community partnerships, and compliance while working closely with the Board of Directors to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.

The Advocacy Center of Winona is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing confidential, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. We work alongside survivors, community partners, and supporters to promote safety, healing, and social change.

Position Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of ACW, including strategic leadership, financial stewardship, grant administration, staff supervision, program oversight, fundraising, community relations, technology infrastructure, and organizational compliance. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and supervises staff, interns, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities include

Provide overall leadership and management of the organization, translating strategic goals into effective operations while ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and accountability. Lead grant and contract administration, budgeting, financial oversight, organizational planning, policy implementation, risk management, and reporting to support the organization's mission and long-term success.

Oversee programs, personnel, and organizational infrastructure to ensure services remain accessible, responsive, and effective. Build and maintain relationships with community partners, funders, donors, and stakeholders; lead fundraising and public engagement efforts; support staff development and organizational culture; and ensure that technology, facilities, records, and operational systems support efficient, secure, and continuous service delivery.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, public administration, social services, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit, public sector, victim services, or related settings.
  • Experience managing grants, budgets, staff, programs, and external partnerships.
  • Experience working with a board of directors or advisory body.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Leadership experience in domestic violence, sexual assault, victim services, housing, or community-based organizations.
  • Experience administering state or federal grants.
  • Experience in fundraising, donor stewardship, contracts, audits, technology oversight, and organizational development.
Schedule & Work Environment
  • Full-time exempt position.
  • Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Requires some evening meetings, fundraising events, and occasional travel.
  • Ability to respond to urgent organizational matters when necessary.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $60,000 + DOE
