Seasonal - Lifeguard and Swim Instructor PositionsWorks as a seasonal employee for the Parks and Recreation department at the Bob Welch Aquatic Center as a Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, or Assistant Swim Instructor.
Minimum age to apply: 15 years old.
Bob Welch Aquatic Center Lifeguard $15.00 per hour- Responsible for day-to-day operations and supervision of the pool facility
- Perform routine maintenance tasks
- Provide necessary supervision to prevent accidents both in the water and on the pool deck area
- Adhere to a strict set of guidelines designed to ensure the safest and cleanest environment possible
- Emphasis placed on maintaining a safe and pleasant swimming environment
- All other duties as assigned
- Must possess current Lifeguarding certification or ability to obtain upon hire
- Teach swimming and/or water safety as designed in each specific program
- Communicate in a positive, appropriate manner with other staff and participants
- Implement positive behavior management techniques with participants
- Emphasis placed on teaching both level one (hard skills like breath and movement techniques) and level two skills (soft skills like trust and commitment) to youth participants
- All other duties as assigned
- Must possess Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
- Support and assist Swim Instructors with swimming lessons and/or water safety programming
- Communicate in a positive, appropriate manner with other staff and participants
- Implement positive behavior management techniques with participants
- Emphasis placed on teaching both level one (hard skills like breath and movement techniques) and level two skills (soft skills like trust and commitment) to youth participants
- All other duties as assigned
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Maturity and ability to handle responsibility
- Communication and cooperation with supervisors and fellow workers
- Ability to perform tasks of nominal difficulty and acquire limited skill to do work of the department
- Physical strength and ability to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in adverse climatic conditions for extended periods of time
