The WSD is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist Instructional Assistant (SLP IA) to provide speech and/or language instruction to identified students in a variety of formats including individual, small and large groups in a variety of settings under the supervision and direction of the assigned Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). The position would be working with Kindergarten - 2nd graders across the school district.

The position involves providing direct therapy services addressing treatment goals developed by the supervising SLP to meet the needs of the student(s). The position requires the ability to develop and implement activities and materials for teaching and practice of skills to address the goals of the student per the plan of care developed by the supervising SLP.

Requirements include the following:

• Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or
• Met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate through a formal State or local academic assessment:
• i. Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, mathematics; and
• ii. Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
• SLP-A certificate preferred but not required.
• Background knowledge and/or experience in communication disorders would be preferred.
• Knowledge of children with disabilities of special education students, and special education teaching methods preferred.
• Ability to speak effectively.
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals.
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Ability to show patience, respect and compassion in working with students.
• Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and handle stress.
• Experience working with children/adolescents.

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $28 to $33 Per Hour
