Industrial Maintenance Mechanic – Penbryn, NJ – – Full Time
Base hourly rate: $33.68.
Your Day to Day- Be an active participant in the safety process and practice safe work habits at all times.
- Perform mechanical preventative maintenance according to an established schedule on all equipment and inspect machinery, removing faulty equipment from operation until repaired.
- Effectively troubleshoot all mechanical equipment to identify issues and perform necessary corrective actions to repair, replace or rebuild.
- Maintain an open and candid working relationship with coworkers from all departments and the immediate supervisor/manager.
- Read, interpret and follow blueprints and sketches; perform all measurements and calculations necessary to complete the job.
- Complete work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage and other clerical duties to maintain proper records relative to the work performed.
- Direct, assist, and instruct other workers on jobs where it is necessary to work together or when requested by supervisor.
- Inspect and maintain plant buildings and cast concrete forms and bollards as needed.
- Operate, maintain, inspect, lubricate and repair all plant systems as required.
- Member of the emergency response team; duties include operating self‑contained breathing equipment, full spill emergency equipment, firefighting equipment, and CPR and First Aid training; full knowledge and ability to use required equipment.
- May operate mobile equipment.
- Perform water treatment and fire protection equipment tests following prescribed methods; add materials and make corrections and repairs based on test results.
- During cleanouts and emergencies, may work with other maintenance employees, performing any duties to bring equipment back into operation in minimum time.
- Complete monthly CBTs or other training as required.
- Perform other related duties as directed, including duties of lower classification; perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Technical or vocational degree or certification (preferred).
- Mechanical journeyman certification or 5+ years of verified experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic with knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, power transmission, welding, cutting, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and handle multiple priorities and projects.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence legibly.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, straightforward written or verbal instructions.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Experience with machine safety topics such as guarding, hot work and lockout/tagout.
- Lift truck operations, JLG, etc., and the ability to obtain a license to operate.
- Ability to work all shifts, including rotating 12‑hour shifts.
The employee is regularly required to stand and walk, occasionally sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; frequently engage in repetitive motions; lift, push or pull 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. WorkEnvironment
This job is in an industrial, manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. The environment is not climate controlled; employees may work in extremely hot and humid or cold conditions, as well as wet, dusty, and uneven surfaces.
